Edmund (Ed) Bewley

Flight Operations Consultant

After gaining his degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a short spell as a Flying Instructor, Ed started his aviation career with BEA back in the 1970s. Spells again as a flying instructor and as an English teacher followed before he settled into a career in flying in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland where he served with a number of operators in positions from Line Pilot to Fleet Manager to Chief Pilot.

Ed joined the CAA in 1995 as a Flight Operations Inspector where the depth of his knowledge and expertise was recognised and he was promoted to senior positions, serving as Regional Manager at a number of Regional Offices before becoming the Head of the Flight Operations Inspectorate in January 2007. Ed oversaw the introduction of EU-OPS into UK operations – a difficult task that he managed with his usual combination of competence and good humour!

Ed left the CAA in August 2009 to become an independent flight operations consultant and he has been in great demand from a number of organisations including EASA where he provided advice on formulating legislation for commercial aviation.

Ed contributes significantly to the wide range of services that we provide to our clients in all areas of the industry.
